so be sure to have object enablers installed too. I've seen legacy ADT objects in a drawing cause plain AutoCAD to crash as well. that leaves the drawing files themselves. Once we've eliminated software, drivers, and hardware.
RAM should be quickly obvious by watching system resources and I will assume that BOTH computers do not have bad RAM. that leaves hardware (RAM) and something bad in the drawing files themselves. After that you've eliminated software (mostly).
It (a full, clean install and registry wipe) also would help to remove registry issues that could cause Windows itself to restart.
This would help eliminate "files" from the equation. Point being: A clean reinstall with no virus scanning software running would be my first suggestion after making sure my computer had the latest drivers. it's a very unlikely thing to happen, but it has caused issues. This could be caused by a number of things as well, including Virus scan program being on during software installation Windows Update replacing a file that AutoCAD liked but the new file it doesn't third party software (add-on programs) that replaced files vital for AutoCAD to run.ĥ.) If it happens only during plotting it could be an issue related to drivers and/or software setup.Ħ.) I once saw 2 computers (identical) that had this problem when their Screen Savers / Power saving features kicked on, a file was deleted and caused a system crash when it kicked on. I've once seen a corrupt TITLE BLOCK populate a number of drawings and make life very bad on a number of projects that used the same "corrupt" block in numerous drawings.Ĥ.) A corrupt installation. This is the most likely issue if the same file causes the crash. Ģ.) If it crashes at the AutoCAD opening screen or in commands that use the graphics driver more (different graphics modes, new dialogue boxes opening, etc) then it's likely the graphics card drivers.ģ.) Thanks and have a great day!If it happens 3-4 times a day after AutoCAD has already started it could be a graphics driver issue (if it happens during certain commands, in particular ones that open dialogue boxes), but its more common to either be a RAM issue, a corrupt element in the drawing, or something happening with the installation itself. I updated the Video Drives and if the crashes stop I will let you know. I have 2 machines that when they are working in AutoCAD they crash (Restart) on a somewhat regular basis.maybe 3-4 times a day.
